Today on the road with RoCaMiRo for some T5 caches. This Wherigo was the second on the list today. It looked like a nice change, something different than the other climbing caches. We got off with a good start and it was a nice climb up. Following the different locations we ended up at the cache location. After a short inspection we were just starting to unpack our equipment when some tourists came to pay us a visit. They looked at us for a while, while we were building our rope structure, and left again. I went over the railing and after some time playing around I managed to reach the cache!
The story would normally be over now, but it had actually just begun. While we were more or less packing our equipment and did some abseiling, just for fun, we suddenly saw unexpected visitors. A police car and a police van came driving up the road and parked right beneath us. Ohoh, now it's going to happen...., but the officers stepped out really relaxed and told us they got a phone call from some people in the village that someone was going to jump from the tower. Uh, well, yes we are, but it's pretty safe the way we do it. That's of course what they also saw, so no problems, except that we needed a permit to perform this kind of activities here. Since we had no permit we had to pack everything and leave. Ok, no problem at all, we already did what we had to do. After saying goodbye to the officers we went down, to our next climbing adventure.
